Learning Objectives
Provide the basis for carrying out economic and financial analysis and evaluation of companies operating in the wood-furniture sector, elements that are useful for professional activity and research.
The student must acquire basic knowledge relating to the principles of political economy (microeconomics-macroeconomics), financial mathematics and the wood market in Italy and worldwide.
The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and encourage personal skills to evaluate the development prospects of the wood sector in the local area.
The expected learning outcomes can be summarized in some specific points:
a) Ability to answer microeconomic questions (political economy);
b) Basic knowledge of financial calculation.
c) Knowledge of product certification processes
d) Ability to carry out and evaluate a micro-investment project in the forest sector.
Prerequisites
Minimum Knowledge of field of study: wood production and markets.
Teaching Methods
Frontal lectures, use of software for exercises (excel).
Further information
Educational activities include educational visits to forest companies.
Market surveys related to the sale of standing woods, semi-transformed and / or transformed wood.
Type of Assessment
Oral exam with discussion of the theoretical and practical aspects and carrying out of some financial calculation exercises.
The exam involves assessing knowledge relating to the general principles of political economy, business economics and sector regulations, on issues such as forest and product certification.
For each of the previously identified learning outcomes, questions will be addressed to assess knowledge and mastery of the subject, as well as organizational rigor and ownership of language. The score must consider the student's ability to solve the problems posed and above all the completeness of the answers based on the cultural background acquired.
