Course Content - Part A
General principles of statics. Materials and elements of farm buildings.
Energy balance of farm buildings. Examples of rural buildings.
Survey and representation of rural territory.
Measures of distances, angles and differences in level and relevant
instruments. Simple topographic surveys. Global Positioning Systems.
Reading and using of topographic maps, cadastral maps.
For Topography and Cartography part, it is possible to utilize books of
High Schools.
Learning Objectives - Part A
Knowledge acquired: the main goal is to form the students in relation to
problems concerning the working of a farm building and concerning the
survey and representation of the territory
Competence acquired (at the end of the course): Methods to evaluate
and design farm buildings; methods to read maps and to carry out
topographic works.
Skills acquired (at the end of the course):
the student must acquire capacities necessary to carry out works
concerning the design of rural and agricultural and food buildings. The
student has to know the reading and using of the maps, in order to carry
out topographic surveys and to analyze the territory.

Type of Assessment - Part A
Exam modality: Intermediate tests on 3 parts of the course (statics; environmental control; topography and cartography); final oral exam.
Intermediate tests are counted for final vote.
Intermediate tests remain valid in the following academic years. Evaluation criteria: in written tests with open questions or carrying out calculations, the unsuccessful answer and the wrong answer are considered in the same way; the oral exam takes into account: argumentative rigor, completeness, originality, language properties.
Due to a health emergency, the oral examination can be carried out with the aid of telematic platforms.

Rural building - General principles of statics. Materials and elements of
farm buildings. Design of farm buildings. Energy balance of rural
buildings. Examples of rural buildings. Survey and representation of rural
territory. Measures of distances, angles and differences in level and
relevant instruments.
Simple topographic surveys. Global Positioning Systems. Reading and
using of topographic maps, cadastral maps. Program of practical
lessons:
Calculus of environmental control in farm houses (in information room).
Individuation of transmission coefficient (K). Choice of materials.
Technical visits in farms to examine structures and equipment.
Reading of topographic maps. Use of topographic instruments and survey
trials.
